In a firm and passionate statement addressing the people of Acherensua, Nana Minta Yeboah II, the Queen Mother of Acherensua, has raised serious concerns about the growing sanitation challenges in the community.
Speaking during a community engagement session, the Queen Mother expressed disappointment over the careless disposal of waste and poor hygiene practices by some residents. She emphasized that the cleanliness of Acherensua is a shared responsibility and that every individual has a role to play in maintaining a healthy environment.
“Acherensua is our home, and we must keep it clean. Anyone who deliberately pollutes the environment is a threat to our health and dignity as a people.” she said.
She further urged all community members to report individuals who engage in acts that undermine the community’s sanitation efforts, such as open defecation, littering, or failure to participate in communal clean-up exercises. She stressed that no one is above the law when it comes to protecting public health.
Nana Minta Yeboah II also called on the youth, traditional leaders, and opinion leaders to intensify education and advocacy on proper sanitation practices and environmental discipline.
Her call comes at a time when improper waste disposal and unclean surroundings are becoming a concern in many communities across Ghana. By taking a bold stance, the Queen Mother has reaffirmed her dedication to the wellbeing of Acherensua and her vision for a cleaner, safer, and more disciplined town.
She concluded by reminding all that, “Cleanliness is not just a habit; it is a reflection of who we are as a people. Let us rise and protect the dignity of Acherensua.”
